Random Ramblings: Fasting, Destroying Self-Doubt, and Cool Stuff

What’s up guys, looks like it’s time for another Random Ramblings post.

I won’t take up too much of your time (or brain), I’ll be sure to keep this one fairly short.

Thank God it’s Friday.

Let’s get right to it.

You Put Butter in Your Coffee?

I’d been working on this post for quite a while, and I finally got around to publishing it.

If you haven’t heard of Bulletproof Coffee, and you think the idea of putting unsalted butter and coconut oil in your coffee is ludicrous, give this post a read.

Fasting Experiment

If you read the post from a few days ago, you know that I’ll be experimenting with alternate day fasting for the next few months.

Essentially, I’m only going to be eating on days that I lift weights, which is four days per week. On the other days, no food.

It’s going to be a challenge, but hey, what’s life without a bit of experimentation and adventure?

How to Destroy Self-Doubt

I’m a huge fan of Elliott Hulse, and I listen to almost all of his videos because, in my mind, he’s on the level of Eric Thomas as far as the ability to motivate and educate.

Here’s a video that he posted last night, excellent motivation as usual.

Self-doubt is something that I have struggled with badly in the past. I was never confident about any of my abilities, ranging from baseball to weight lifting to writing.

I have since gotten much better due to the help of a lot of reading, meditation, and motivation from guys like Elliott.

Like he says in the video, you must get out of your own way. That’s all self-doubt is. You’ve been taught to overanalyze situations and doubt your ability to make the right decision.

You just have to say fuck it and take action.

“Do the thing you’re afraid to do.”

Taking action is scary, but it builds courage.

And courage will destroy self-doubt.

It’s possible to be entertaining and informative simultaneously, and Derrick Blanton proves it in this guest post.

In a nut shell, the post is about the wide range of arguments that go down in the fitness industry and how back and forth we’ve become.

One week, squats are the king of all exercises, the next week they should be avoided at all costs because they’re bad for your knees.

Can’t we just make up our minds?

Apparently not. Definitely give this post a read.
